After thoroughly washing our wardrobe to rid the stench of cigarette smoke, and realizing that people do sleep at night, we’re back from Vegas! As a wedding gift my parents gave my husband and me a week of their timeshare to use anywhere. The decision was down to New York, NY and Las Vegas which we ultimately solved by drawing pieces of paper. Vegas it was!
My husband and I had saved, and saved, and saved, and finally (with some help from our tax refund check) yesterday was the day. We bought a new computer!
And of course, a designer and her iMac are not complete without Adobe CS5 software. Seriously, this is huge. Until yesterday I’ve been using campus computers and 30-day trials. And look, we got a free printer with purchase of our computer! Needless to say it was a good day.
Oh User Guide, you couldn’t be more right.
Happy Easter, everyone!
Today I was having fun with the word “Easter” and started writing and drawing it in different ways. Soon my husband and brother-in-law got in on it and we came up with more ideas together. From calligraphy to graffiti, here’s our process work:
We chose our favorite and I created the following on Adobe Illustrator this evening.
Ain’t it cute?? Happy Easter!
Well, it was time to put my old blog, Creation’s Edge, to rest. To honor its memory I’ve posted a slide show of my work that was there. Isn’t it great? It’s like attending a museum without getting dressed up!
My blog got some new threads! It’s a lot cleaner and keeps the focus on content. I’ve also featured a portion of my illustration “Chinese Landscape” at the top. So what do you think?
For people to take me seriously they have to know who I am …
My family and I are extremely white and very nerdy, so we’ve put together this video to tell the world. Enjoy!
(I’m the one rubbing on the sour cream … )
Video was created and edited by my brother Norm at My Life Productions. Many thanks to Weird Al for writing this song about us.
In between my recent designs I’ve been doing some hands-on projects. Every once in a while I get itchy to create something and the best way to satisfy this is to find a need and fill it. So what did I do? I created a jewelry organizer for my necklaces! They had been sitting in a tangled lump of chains and beads since we moved into the new apartment and something needed to be done.
Woohoo! Two of my digital illustrations (see pics below) have been featured in the BYU-Idaho’s art and literary journal: OUTLET. On stands now at a BYU-Idaho near you!
This is a piece that I created, taking words and phrases from “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I was in a rush to create this so I hope to go back and tweak it. Any opinions and advice are welcome. Thanks, and enjoy!

Update on 10-11-14:
Exciting news!! I now have an Etsy shop! WOO! I have been talking about this for a LONG time (just ask my husband) but never did anything about it. Well, I finally decided to stay up late (3:40 am right now) and just do it. This awesome family proclamation subway art is currently for sale (instant digital download), and soon I’ll be adding digital illustration, scratchboards, graphite drawings, and more. I still have lots to learn but I think this will be a neat experience. Thank you everyone for your interest in this artwork and the message it contains.
